Below is a testimonial from a new parent about her experience joining NCA.
Our family is new to NCA – we have two young children enrolled in first grade and preschool. The experience so far has been wonderful!
Each one of our family members, including my husband and I, have had our lives enriched by NCA.
Educationally, our daughter’s reading skills have taken off. While I do not know how she compares to her peers, I like the emphasis put on reading and that she takes a booklet home each night and is able to progress at her own pace. I’m also pleased with the curriculum on how vocabulary, sounding out words, and math are taught. I think a good balance has been struck between work completed in school versus work brought home.
While my children seem to “forget” what they did at school each day after I pick them up, I hear the poems they recently memorized and recited for a group and was thrilled my daughter was reciting a beautiful poem by Robert Louis Stevenson.
Since she started at NCA, her confidence seems to have improved. She has never had a problem making friends but takes a long time to get comfortable with people. Both of our girls have adapted quickly to NCA and made friends with children from other grades. And for whatever reason, the two of them play even more frequently and better together at home.
It’s been the small details and acts of kindness that have impressed me the most. In a recent event I volunteered at, the high school girls were interacting with some young children in such a sweet and kind manner. Separately, my youngest daughter was laughing and a middle school boy said, “I just love their laughs when they’re so little”. That melted my heart. Not what I expected to hear from a boy that age! At the same event, other parents who were at the school for other reasons randomly pitched in to help us clean up. I witnessed high school kids picking up the floor and shaking out the rugs at the end of the day. Grandparents Day was an amazing success and my parents and in-laws raved about how articulate and polite the older children were that spoke on stage. They loved their visit! It’s been wonderful to have their support and hear them boast about the education their grandchildren are getting at NCA. And to top it off, after their visit and making a small donation to the school, the office called and thanked my mom for her attendance. That meant so much to her (and to me too)!
We feel blessed to be a part of NCA and grateful for the leadership in guiding these little people to become critical thinkers and servants of Christ! It also inspires us as parents to lead and love others as they do!
